I have just acquired the brass wheel stand from the SS Otto M. Reiss, minus the wheel. I now have for sale the complete wheel and stand from the SS Wallaceburg, which I purchased locally about 15 years ago from her last owner, the late John Emigh from St. Clair. Check out the Bowling Green site for a complete history on this old steamer, scrapped in 1966 after John removed all her valuables. I paid $1800 and put it a great amount of sweat to strip and polish the brass wheel stand, but it could use another polishing if the new owner so wishes (some people prefer that old tarnished brass look). I am asking $2500 for it and will throw in her captain's chair which I had purchase from John a few years earlier (that's all I could afford at the time). Contact me at reissrecollections at hotmail dot com for more information or photos or arrange to come to see it in Port Huron at Reiss Recollections Maritime Museum. It weighs at least a few hundred pounds, so bring a strong back if you plan to take it away.
