In late 1983 USS sold five of its steamers, B. F. Affleck, Horace Johnson, Joshua Hatfield, John Hulst, and August Ziesing to Western Metals for scrapping. Of these, only the Hulst and Johnson were scrapped at Thunder Bay. If I'm not mistaken, didn't Western Metals go out of business in early 1984 and that resulted in the balance of these vessels being resold to Hyman-Michaels for scrapping?
