Is it not possible for someone to create a new Boatnerd photo gallery page forum where posters can register then login and post shipping photos and they appear automatically? If i knew how to do this i would certainly offer to help.
I am in no way speaking on behalf of boatnerd.com, I just have extensive experience with software and servers:

It IS possible, but there are several kinks with that setup. Assumingly, the delay in regards to the posts users make on this forum are to allow the moderator(s) to make sure that no content goes outside the purpose of this website: the Great Lakes shipping industry and the collective love for the beautiful beasts its churned out. Not saying it can't happen, but its not a snap of the fingers

@boatnerd admin: The last collection of server information to fix the SQL issue doesn't seem to be valid anymore. Update me @ [email protected] and I'll reset the issue.

I second you on the Facebook opposition!

I should have asked you what cost your scanner was before I went into a camera store. I had 60 slides and they are charging me $2.00/ slide and $5.00 for the CD. Oh well learn from mistakes! Haha Will post over on Fans of Know Your Ships facebook page starting next week
Paid $65 for an Epson.

So did I. I'm able to post photos that don't need editing and are posted as soon as you hit "post." Somewhat of a new audience for my photos. Lots of great photographers on that page and there are links to other Great Lakes shipping and port groups.

Which link are you accessing it from? ie from what page?
In case you're still following, @volunteer007, the link to the "Public Photo Gallery" is giving a horrid SQL error, not connecting to SQL server.

I would also love to see the news photo page updated - it's been many weeks (closer to months) since we have seen current pictures in the news feed. Been a Boatnerd visitor since 2000. I love reading about the ships, but pictures are what make for an interesting website. Facebook has become my go to these days since this site no longer posts new pics. I am however enjoying the Garbear 70s, 80s, 90s photo collection.

I've personally never liked the way the pages have "next/previous" selection. It wouldn't be impossible to switch it to be aesthetic to the user, ie.: 1, 2, 3, 4...or even quite frankly have the date in which you're looking at.

@boatnerd admin/mod, if you're interested in having me pick around the server again get in touch.

The most recent News Photo Gallery appears to be July 17, 2017. Here is a link to that gallery:

http://www.boatnerd.com/news/newsthumbs ... s_1908.htm

That gallery's "next gallery" link indicates it is the last gallery.

If you try to access the News Photo Gallery from the main Boatnerd page, the brown index in the upper left corner, click on photo gallerys, and then on news photo gallery, it takes you to the 2004 start, not the latest page.

I understand if current volunteers are too busy could possibly another person please step up and volunteer to update the News Photo Gallery on a regular basis? Thank you boatnerds very much in advance.

Photo Galleries, then News Thumb Galleries. It happens for me too. So I started looking at them from 2004 onwards and I'm amazed and saddened at how many from only 13 years ago are now gone.

We just need to hang in there Guest and be patient and give all of our dedicated volunteers the time and space they need right now with their real jobs, lives and schedules. I know I can attest right now for myself as I used to be a fairly dedicated volunteer on here and then after my Mom passed away a couple of months ago now, I've gotten so busy with other stuff that I just don't have the time at the moment at least to be as dedicated as I was before my Mom was sick and in the hospital. So again my point here is to everyone to please give our volunteers the time and space they need as far as trying to balance work, family and schedules in and I'm sure in time we will have the News Photo Gallery and other items back up and running soon on here. I for one would like to thank all of our true and dedicated volunteers who help and keep this site and the time and hours they spend here as well. Without our volunteers we would have nothing to go on for tracking our favorite ships along with any shipping news as well. Thank You to all our volunteers.
