They're presently upbound in the Welland Canal now and due out at Lock 8 Northwest Wall at 11:32 a.m. on November 17th to let you all know that one. Unfortunately I won't be able to see her going up as I mentioned before, the weather on Saturday is not favorable as rain is in the forecast and I don't drive in rain or snow. Hopefully with some luck maybe I'll see her on the return back downbound and if nothing else there's always next year!

I would guess they'll stay on and be removed during layup. Being late in the season with contracts to fill, I doubt they would want to take the time now. Looking at past removals, it looks like approx. an 8 day job.

Saw photos this morning of the Algoma Niagara departing Toledo and she still had the deck stiffeners.

They are as I type this now at 10:45 a.m. on November 15 down in the Welland Canal and expected to arrive in Hamilton to unload coal sometime later today. After this trip get ready and you better have your cameras ready then as she is expected to head to Thunder Bay to load a grain cargo for a St. Lawrence port. Does anyone have any possible ETAs for them maybe on the Detroit or St. Clair Rivers yet? I'm betting they should be up on the rivers sometime this weekend but just when remains to be seen yet? I'm hoping to see them on Friday of this week as the weather is supposed to be good at least until the evening. Saturday the weather is an all day rainy day and I will NOT be out on the river in any type of rain or snow. So if she will be up on the rivers on Friday, this works perfect for me. Also, am I correct that the deck stiffeners or support stuff are still on her deck and have yet to be removed? If they are still in place, anyone know when these will be removed? Sorry for so many questions here as I am just curious is all. Thanks for any information you have as well.

Algoma Niagara is now on the move heading for Toledo.

Just saw on the Port of Hamilton's website that this morning she did indeed shift over to Pier 26 and to have the deck stiffeners then removed before she heads to Toledo next to load coal.

Guest: she hauled iron ore (I beleieve) into Hamilton. So the holds aren't clean.

When the Algoma Strongfield arrived in Hamilton on their maiden voyage with the stiffeners in place, they were at Pier 26 from June 6-13. The stiffeners were removed and then they moved to Pier 21 to unload their ore cargo.

The Algoma Niagara arrived in Hamilton on November 8 and they're still at Pier 21 so I'm guessing the stiffeners are coming off at the Dofasco dock. November 14 in Toledo sounds possible.

Does she still have those deck stiffeners or have they been removed and taken off?
The deck stiffeners are in place in the photo from Nov. 8. Removing them takes more than a few days so I would guess they're staying on until the season ends and then they'll be removed as winter work.
She is still scheduled to load coal at the CSX Docks on Monday evening. I remember one of the Equinox vessels sailed with the hull stiffeners on her hull when she arrived on the lakes during the fall. She kept them on and had them removed when she went into winter layup. A thunder Bay grain trip is to follow.

When they arrived on Wednesday they said after unloading would shift to Pier 26 in Hamilton for the work.

Great photo of the Algoma Niagara arriving at Hamilton on her first trip and maiden voyage at least to Hamilton Phil and thanks so very much for sharing your photo with us. Sure do envy you and anyone else that was there and saw her arriving in Hamilton as I wish I was there as well to see her for the first time. Well I know that someday I will have my chance and opportunity to see her. Thanks again Phil!
