I just seen that their AIS has been updated and now they are due to arrive in Montreal on March 27th at about 0400 hours subject to change due to weather and ice conditions. Hope this helps for anyone that may be tracking her movements.

It is also making a much shorter journey than from China.

I would agree with she's only 650 so her flexing would be less than a 740 (her length to width ratio is lower). Also she has a cargo onboard (bauxite) so that would also help.

I noticed that she doesn’t have the stiffeners on her like the other ships that came over possibly because she is only 650?

Algoma Innovator stopped in Gibraltar West Anchorage for fuel this evening, then departed westbound through the Gibraltar Strait at approximately 11:30pm EST. Next destination, Montreal, ETA March 25 0800.

Looks like Algoma Innovatorshould be westbound at Gibraltar late tonight, Eastern time. Not sure if she unloaded her cargo at Augusta, Sicily, Italy or still has it onboard.

I see that the Innovator just arrived at Augusta, Sicily. Am I correct in assuming that this stop is for bunkering after loading their Bauxite cargo in Greece?

No, different crew. There's a delivery crew onboard and flying the Tuvalu Flag. Probably arrive in cargo delivery port or Sept Iles and then change crew there.

Is the crew bringing her across the ocean the same one that she'll have on the Lakes ?

I'm not sure this will work but there were some pretty cool photos on Google when I was looking at the map.
Quite the industrial space.

Both Sept-Iles and Baie-Comeau also have alumimum smelters, so either one might be a good bet. However Sept-Iles also has iron ore to ship, so it seems like a logical first call.

Bauxite ore is usually unloaded in Burns Harbor. Not sure if Algoma still does that run or not. As for being river-class, I assume Algoma tends to use it in the small-market trades, but I believe it has a 78 foot beam and it is quite deep which will probably restrict it somewhat.

So where then will they take this cargo of bauxite to and unload it at once they arrive in Canada? I will be interested in seeing just what her cargoes will be and where she loads and unloads them at. In Algoma’s Press Release, it mentions that she is considered a River-class type of vessel. So does this mean then that we may see her on tight along with narrow rivers such as the Cuyahoga and Saginaw? I’m sure we will see her at some point visiting ports such as those and many others as well. Looking forward to seeing her along with the Algoma Sault in 2018 and hope that both vessels have a safe journey home to Canada with calm seas and winds as well on their long journeys home to Canada soon.

Algoma Innovator appears to be enroute to Greek port (Itea) for cargo pickup and then next stop Canada. Performed some sea trials in the past day and is now headed outboard Adriatic Sea, towards Mediterranean.

As expected, Algoma officially announced acceptance of Algoma Innovator. Expect departure from shipyard in mid-February, with arrival planned for Seaway opening. Expected delivery trip to include a cargo onboard.

For cpfan, if you look closely at the photo of the Algoma Innovator that ML put here you will see that the Algoma Endurance is in the slip next to the Algoma Innovator. Hope that this information has helped.

Although Algoma Innovator was built at the Maj Shipyard, I found it interesting that the neighboring Viktor Lenac Shipyard in the Rijeka Croatia area does major and highly classified work for the US Navy.

They are currently working on the USS Mount Whitney (LCC-20), a USN Blue Ridge-class command ship in their #11 floating dry dock:

And I thought the Jones Act was supposed to be vital to national security...

ALGOMA INNOVATOR shows up on Marine Traffic as ALGOMA INNOVATOR a bit west of the city of Rijeka. I can't find Algoma Endurance in Marine Traffic searching on name or IMO.
