I would go with NARA. They have most of the station journals which did not get destroyed or passed into private hands.

According to a quick look through the finding aids for the National Archives, the logs for White Shoal Light from 1970-73 are at the National Archives regional location in Chicago:

Don't know if that's the time period you're looking for, but NARA should be the first place to look as it typically receives those types of records. The finding aids are online: http://www.archives.gov/research/

Another place you could double-check would be the US Coast Guard Historian's Office in Washington DC.

I'm sure one of the Great Lakes Lightkeeper's Association people will chime in with some ideas, too.

Does anyone know what happened to the log book from White Shoal after it was automated. My husband was a lighthouse keeper on the light during the 70's and I am trying to track it down for him.
