Lighthouses still play a very important role in navigation! If some or all of your navigation tools become inoperable, you still have your old Trusty paper charts and land marks to use, and keep you off the rocks!

This is a very naive question to ask,

However, with modern navigational aids, i.e. GPS etc, what purpose do lighthouses now serve on the Great Lakes aside from historical significance?
