Topic review - Large scale model of Great Lakes Freighters
Author Message

Please contact me at captlampman at charter dot net, if you are interested in a marine model of a Great Lakes freighter, mfd. by Voco Marine Models, of Painsville, OH. These models are long out of production, and rare to find one that hasn't been started. I have a brand new one that is thirty years old, still in the original carton.

Bearco Model Marine has laker kits. Their is a link to their site on the boatnerd links page. Their models are what i would call 'stand off scale" they look right but are not really scaled to 1/87 as they claim. If you are looking for exact scale you are better off scratch building.

Does anyone have any idea where I can obtain kits of large scale models of Great Lakes freighters or ocean going freighters? I'm currently working on Sterlings "United States American Scout" 55" long(out of stock for many years). I see in the blogs that Carr's no longer sells these kits. Who does? Thanks
