The Collingwood holed herself 17 June 1957 on the dock at Detroit after unloading newsprint for the Detroit Free Press and News. While leaving the dock it then backed into the Cornell in heavy fog. The Cornell suffered no significant damage. The same fog resulted in a glancing blow, with no significant damage, between the Paterson and Edward W. Mudge near Marysville that day.
