From land its nearly impossible to get a good view of the docks. Best bet is from the Kellys Island ferrys.
When a laker is waiting for dock space, sometimes they anchor on the
leeward side (south or east) of Kellys Island and close to it. The current in between Kellys Island and Marblehead is very strong.

I took this picture of the Earl W. Oglebay at Marblehead during the 1990s. The last time I was in the Marblehead it appeared that you were no longer to get close enough to the dock to get this perspective, but I may be wrong as there was no vessel there at the time.

When I sailed, back in the '70's, it was "first come, first served". I 'assume' that is still in effect today.

This is a newbie question I watch the traffic coming into the Marblehead Ohio dock... Is it .. First come first serve, or are the boats scheduled in to the dock ????... seems on the AIS that boats... are racing to get there first.. thanks for your answer...... Marblehead, Boatnerd
