Here is a link to the interesting story and pictures about the Gaillard being pulled off Barkers Island on August 1, 2003.

Scroll down to 08/29, Workboat Report

Roan Salvage of Sturgeon Bay, WI is presently using the Gaillard as one of it's barges to do dredging work in the Duluth-Superior harbor. Roan is leasing the Gaillard from Fraser Shipyards of Superior, WI, the present owner.

The barge shown in the photos linked previously is the Gaillard. They are working on a wetlands reclamation project in St. Louis Bay.

Here is a photo of her at work:

Depending on which version of Google Maps you have, it may show up here instead:

MilwBob, Are you sure it was scrapped or could it have just been reduced to a deck barge?

The reason I ask is that a similar shaped barge shows up in fairly recent photos.

I think this May 9, 2012 photo is the dredge right after the superstructure, boilers and machinery were removed.

Google Earth says this photo was taken April 14, 2015 and it shows a similar shaped barge being used as a crane barge at the Hallett Dock.

Scrapped several years ago.

It was dismantled at Barker's island by Billington Contracting, Inc., in 2002-2003. According to Franz von Reidl, Billington retained the hull as a barge. From Boatnerd and Franz: http://www.boatnerd.com/news/newpicture ... 03-FVR.jpg

In an unusual operation, it was dredged out of Barker's Island and converted to a flat deck spud barge (its superstructure was dismantled). I assume it's in the Duluth harbor somewhere but not sure where.

I believe that this dredge was turned into a museum vessel at Superior, Wisconsin alongside the whaleback Meteor on Barker's Island. I was in that area last year and I did not see it. I was just passing through and didn't have time to stop, so I was wondering if its still there?
