Sad Day for Detroit Sports

by Denny » February 10, 2017, 8:17 pm

Just heard the shocking news of both Detroit Red Wings and also the Detroit Tigers owner Mike Illitch passing at the age of 87 today and a sad day for Detroit Sports as well. It was 35 years ago that Mike Illitch bough and purchased the Detroit Red Wings and also 25 years ago that he purchased the Detroit Tigers. Mr. Illitch has had a very long and outstanding career with the city of Detroit not just for the two major sports teams but, the revitalization of the Fox Theatre along with the City of Detroit and now the building of the new Little Caesars Arena. He got to see his Red Wings go to the Stanley Cup and Win and also see the Detroit Tigers at least make it to the World Series. He was a big part in the building of Comerica Park for the Detroit Tigers. So I thank that we the fans should give Mr. Illitch a round of applause and thank him for all he has done for Detroit along with the Red Wings and the Tigers along with Little Caesars Pizza. Thank you Mike Illitch and God Bless you.
