From what you describe, if a wooden steamer of classic lake design, on the north end of the park, that is the Continental.

Both the wrecks shown in the article are in less than 15ft.

Anyone know of a wreck by point beach state park? My dad and discovered a part of one sticking out of the water about 20 years ago

No way can they see down 300ft. About 60ft would be close to the max one can see from the air.
