Most likely a pleasure craft in the way. The long blast probably meant "You are about to get run over. Get out of the way. Now!"

the five short blasts were probly danger signal with the one long blast maybe a passing signal. starboard to starboard signal.

This afternoon there was a ship unsure downbound or upbound late afternoon early evening who was blasting the whistle like I have never heard before? I did make out a 5 short blast but one really long one that seemed to go one for around 15 to 20 seconds? Any ideas?
