The "G" tugs in Houghton should be the Kentucky and North Dakota in tow of the Missouri. The Missouri towed the tugs Indiana and Arkansas into Duluth to replace the above mentioned. Should be on their way to Cleveland.
No, the Kentucky and North Dakota are bound for MCM in the Soo for work before heading to Milwaukee and Green Bay.

The white line is just an easy way for the crew to keep an eye on the boats being towed - in case one starts taking on water.
