Re: John Sherwin
Primarily, Interlake owns the dock- it costs nothing to let her sit. Secondary: you never know what a hull might be good for someday. She’ll never sail again, but she could be (relatively) quickly cut to a barge, or maybe someday scrap prices will skyrocket for who knows why. She’s not worth nothing...

Tug in Marathon, ON
Earlier this month I completed the Lake Superior circle tour by motorcycle, and one of the surprising sights I came across was a large tug boat, rolled up onto the beach on rollers just outside Marathon, ON. Looked to be in pretty good shape, but high and dry on the beach. Anyone know the story there?

Anderson
I see on the newspage that the Irvin project at Fraser is being delayed, in part due to a line up for the drydock that includes the Anderson. Is this an indication that the Anderson’s return to service was not anticipated, and the owners and the yard are now in a hurry to get her out and moving?

1 long 2 short for Joe
As noted on the news page, and several other outlets, Joe Komjathy recently donated his completed model of the Amasa Stone to the Valley Camp museum. Having presonnaly seen the model in various stages of its building process, I can say that Joe spared no detail in the 15 year project. His knowledge ...

I know the article says the Coast Guard is not releasing the name of the suspected ship/company, but is there any indication in the Boatnerd world as to who it might be?

Superior Weather
Is Lake Superior a little rough right now? I’ve noticed on AIS a lot of boats hugging the north shore, and a few on the hook in Whitefish Bay.

Is the boat thats all wrapped up the Miner? I know she’s there, but I haven’t physically seen her my last few drives past Bay Ship. They do a great job of hiding a 1000’ boat....

Re: Sturgeon Bay Activity
I know I’ve asked already, but the PRT is Northbound for Sturgeon Bay for layup. Is therr any indication on whether she will take the canal or go around? Would love to have a chance to see her in the canal this evening, but its almost a 2 hour drive I dont want to make if I’m not sure...

Re: New Soo Lock
Regardless of who is in charge, no lock will be built until the Poe lock suffers a significant break down, requiring time and money to be fixed, and we experience the economic fallout. The government does not recognize a problem until it is far too late to effectivley do anything about in any type o...

Re: Sturgeon Bay
As long as she sits in the graving dock, you can get right up to her along the fence on Florida St. I couldnt tell you how long she'll sit there though, and once they take her out theres no other place for a real good view.

Lead problem at Fraser
I just read a news report that 200+ workers at Fraser in Superior tested positive for blood lead poisoning as a result of working on the Herbert C. Jackson project and suffering lead exposure. It was just released, and it'll be an interesting story to watch as to how it plays out. Could Fraser and/o...

Group Desgagnés
I have a silly question to ask, partly because it's over a written forum which makes it hard to answer. How does one pronounce 'Desgagnés'? I assume it's French, but that doesn't make it any easier. Any attempts over a written forum like this are appreciated....

Sturgeon Bay Canal
Do captains take issue with the Sturgeon Bay canal? On several occasions now, I've noticed boats go all the way up and around the penninsula, rather than use the canal. Most recently the Burns Harbor going from Chicago to bay ship, went all the way around rather than use the canal. Just curious.

Re: Bannockburn sighting off Marquette?
Weren't there some pictures a few years back taken from the Michigan shoreline that showed the Chicago skyline appearing upside down, visible all the way across the lake due to some visual phenomenon? Possibly the same thing here.

Re: Joseph L. Block and Dorthy Ann / Pathfinder
Not sure what their timeline is or if it means anything at all, but the Block is sitting at Bay Ship tonite all lit up like she's ready to go any minute. The other vessels there simply have some small work lights on as normal, so maybe its a sign thier headed out shortly.

Undaunted travel habits
I've run accross the Undaunted/PM41 many times in my regional travels around the lakes, and I just recently realized that I've never seen them on Lake Superior, neither in person nor on AIS. Do they/have they ever traveled up there? Any thoughts appreciated.
