Re: 1st Order on the Lakes?

No First Order lenses were used in the Great Lakes. These lenses are huge!

Only a handful of 2nd order were used, Standard's Rock on Lake Superior would be one example.

Re: "G" Tug Ohio

I have a pretty extensive collection of photos of Ohio from last shipping season. It may take me a bit to find the detail shots, but let me know if you need anything specific.

Re: "G" Tug Ohio

The Tug Ohio is the former City of Milwaukee Fire-boat "Engine 15".
Engine 15 was built in 1906.

Not sure if that will help lead you to anything, but hope it helps.

I think that is an error on ship spotting. That IMO I believe belongs to the tractor tug Millennium Dawn not Neah Bay.

Re: Light House oil painting Doris Sampmpson

If you are looking for information on the artist check out Star of The North Studio. The light, more commonly called the Duluth North Breakwater Light was completed in April of 1910. It stands 37 feet tall and has a fifth order fresnel lens. It is still an active aid to navigation today. Let me know...

Re: Cape Vincent Tibbets Point lighthouse question

It may just be a case of where you are looking at it from. The light is very directional so if you are beneath it's focal plane it will not appear especially brilliant. As for seeing a beam radiating away from the light, it may just have been a clear night so there was not much to reflect the light ...

Update to previous post. It appears Krista is a Leduedtke tug after all. She left Buffalo and went to Erie to join the Leduedtke tug Ann Marie working on the harbor dredging project there.

The last owner I can confiorm is Selvick. But it was blue when they operated it. It is currently Red and White, it looks like Ryba Marine Construction colors, but I have also heard that Ledueke bought it, but the colors do not line up for Ledueke.

Re: Presque Isle dry docking

Photos of PI out of water may be hard to come by in general. She usually only comes out for 5 year or something very serious. PI has a custom built coffer damn that allows service to be done in the water.
