Re: articulated tug barges

I was on the Laura L. VanEnkevort-Joseph H. Thompson last year. We had a crew of 15 and rotated 30 on 15 off.

The Wallschiff sank roughly straight across from the Fort Gratiot Rear Range Light on the Canadian side of the river.

Johnson's Point

I see lots of older photos of upbounders passing Johnson's Point on Neebish Island. My question is can photos still be taken from there or is it all closed off by private property now?

Daniel J. Morrell info

Hello everybody.

I'm putting together a presentation on the Daniel J. Morrell and I'm having difficulty locating in what year the Morrell received her more modern forward cabins/pilothouse? If you could provide a source that would be even better!
TIA

Assuming all reports are correct. When she comes out sporting gray paint, what are our guesses as to what LLT will name her?

Probably a long shot but I have to start somewhere. I'm a history teacher working on a project about the lost salties of the Great Lakes. Is there anyone out there who may have home video of the Emsstein or Wallschiff sinking on the St. Clair River or the Montrose sinking on the Detroit River they w...

Re: Arthur M. Anderson To Fraser

I'll probably get roasted for saying this but as a history teacher and boatnerd I would like to finally chime in on this whole "she has history" vs. "she's just another ship" debate. Yes. She is just another ship. Yes. She has sister ships. However her connection to history does ...

St. Clair Marine Mart

Has anyone heard if the marine mart is going to happen again this year in St. Clair in April? If so do we have a date for it yet?

Pay Questions

I know this was asked semi-recently but the thread sort of devolved into a lot of confusing opinions. Does anyone know what Ordinary Seamen and AB's make with the different Great Lakes companies? Also what is a typical amount of overtime per week for those positions? TIA

Article Help

Looking for articles from Milwaukee papers covering the sinkings of the following vessels:

S.S. Milwaukee
Pere Marquette 18
Prins Willem V

Not sure if the Milwaukee Pulic Library offers research services yet so I thought I'd ask on here if anyone has articles they'd be willing to share? TIA

New Boats

Just trying to make sure my thinking is correct. Since Algoma cancelled their contracts for the new builds, where does that leave the status of the Algoma Endurance and Algoma Conveyor? I assumed they were part of that deal and so won't be arriving on the Lakes, at least not yet. Or will they be del...

Re: Tim McKeil heading to get Algorail

I heard the conversation between the Tim McKeil and Baie Comeau setting up the passing arrangement at St. Clair on the radio. The McKeil's captain admitted that "this tow is a handful". He didn't specify why, but let's be sentimental and say the old lady wasn't ready to go!

Goderich photo spots question

I'm planning a trip to Goderich in the near future. Where are good places to go to get photos of the boats in the harbor? I'd really like to get shots of the Algoway and Algorail if possible. Any help is appreciated...I've never been there before so detailed info is a great help!

Ok so I've lost track and can't find a comprehensive list as to what boats Algoma has coming online this year?

Algoma Innovator
Algoma Sault

Is that all for this year? I thought I'd heard about the Endurance but am not positive.
