In the winter the Rock Cut is slush and broken Ice to the bottom. Remember when one of the GLF boats was hung up on an ice ridge on the bottom and ended up there for days with 4 or 5 boats behind them? Really screwed up the lay ups that year because the locks closed and some couldn't get back up to Duluth.

18-24 inches sometimes less depending on water levels in the cut

A few feet but it depends on time of year (different draft regulations) plus weather conditions (wind driven waters).

How many feet of water is under the boat when a loaded footer is down bound in the Rock Cut?
