If Taconite pellets are being shipped out of Conneaut it is because US Steel made the decision to ship the pellets. The pellets belong to US Steel Inc. not CN. US Steel has in the past sold pellets to an Algerian steel mill. US Steel also has blast furnaces at its European plant at Kôsice, Slovakia and has sent a test shipment there in the past.

I believe we Canadians have imposed some rather big duties on certain steel imports if not all.
I'm not sure China was the main dumper, Brazil was right up there!

Bottom line is the bottom line. Their concern is to keep ships moving with loads. Not a concern of where it why it how it will affect the world economy. That's the job if the American and Canadian governments.

Does anyone know why CN is shipping Taconite out of Conneaut into Seaway Max vessels and sending to Quebec City? Rumor has it the Taconite is going to China. If that's the case aren't the Canadians cutting off their nose to spite their face? China will then dump the steel on the market at below market price.
