Unread post by BigWaveDave »

PRESS RELEASE:
During the next two years the Maritime Museum Of Sandusky will be holding exhibitions of unique nautical prints made from glass negatives from the collection of Gordon Wendt, past local maritime historian, author, lecturer, and collector of nautical artifacts. This wonderful collection of glass negatives contains 800+ pieces ranging from the 1850s through the 1940s. Most of the collection focuses on boats and locations in and around Lake Erie; frequent sites for lake passengers in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Each exhibition will contain approximately 30 selected images and will be on display two consecutive weekends (April 21-23 & 28-30, and September 8-10 & 15-17). It should be noted that most of these images have never been on public display until now. At the end of each exhibition, the selected images will be available as prints for purchase.
The Spring Glass Negatives Exhibit will be April 21st - 23rd and 28th – 30th. On April 21st there will be a grand opening Wine & Cheese Party from 7-9pm. Tickets will be $10 for museum members and $15 for guests and non-members. Limited prints of the negatives will be available for purchase via reservation, and will be made available after the show for $50 un-matted.
Please contact the Museum for other pertinent information (via email at [email protected] or phone #419-624-0274) or contact Lake Erie Shores & Islands Visitors Center for this information and also info about accommodations and other events for this area.
