Maybe they are doing a fair amount of video and at some point there will be a documentary of their trip. Believe it or not, they are developing electric planes at this time as per the following link:

It appears that they have entered the Mississippi River at Grafton, IL.
They chewed a prop on river snag near Peoria when they had to get out of the way of a towboat and barges. Must be quite an adventure!

Looks like they have made it into the Illinois Waterway system and they went through Lockport lock this morning at 8:44 AM 9/8.
Still have a long way to the Gulf, but might pick up a few knots due to river current.

Solar powered yacht RA

Not exactly shipping, but a unique boat is currently passing through Lake Michigan on it's way to the Gulf via the Mississippi River on the "great circle tour".
This 45 foot vessel is completely powered by solar energy with no back up generators or sails.
Interesting concept that seems to be working.
They look like they are having some "slow fun" and making a statement too. Life at 8 knots! But not a sailboat.
