Like on all straight deck boats: broom and shovel. and if you did not get it up before the last bucket was gone haul it up in a bucket. Think about cleaning up a load of coal for grain...

I enjoyed the info shared on the craneship Buckeye/R C Norton. It did leave me curious on how the cargoholds were cleaned however, especially after a cargo like sulfer. The self-unloader I was on we just hosed everything to the bottom of the hold, opened the gates and it went out the boom and over the side into the pile we just unloaded. The Buckeye as mention by William Lafferty didn't have a cargo hold configuration like other self-unloaders with tunnels or gates at the bottom.
