The book "Dangerous Coast: Pictured Rocks Shipwrecks" by Fred Stonehouse and Dan Fountain has a drawing of the last moments of the Superior by Edward Pusick. It is on page 30 of my copy of the book.

The same drawing was used in an article by Bettey Tomasi in Skin Diver magazine in October 1984, although it was credited to Fred Stonehouse in this instance.

Here is a poor scan of the photo from the article.

1856 is probably too early for a photograph. You may get lucky with a lithograph from Alpena Library or the Wisconsin collection.

Does anyone know if there are any photos or drawings, or any other images, of the steamer Superior that sank off Munising in 1856. I'm trying to find a image of her made during her lifetime.
