As expected, Algoma officially announced acceptance of Algoma Innovator. Expect departure from shipyard in mid-February, with arrival planned for Seaway opening. Expected delivery trip to include a cargo onboard.

For cpfan, if you look closely at the photo of the Algoma Innovator that ML put here you will see that the Algoma Endurance is in the slip next to the Algoma Innovator. Hope that this information has helped.

Although Algoma Innovator was built at the Maj Shipyard, I found it interesting that the neighboring Viktor Lenac Shipyard in the Rijeka Croatia area does major and highly classified work for the US Navy.

They are currently working on the USS Mount Whitney (LCC-20), a USN Blue Ridge-class command ship in their #11 floating dry dock:

And I thought the Jones Act was supposed to be vital to national security..

ALGOMA INNOVATOR shows up on Marine Traffic as ALGOMA INNOVATOR a bit west of the city of Rijeka. I can't find Algoma Endurance in Marine Traffic searching on name or IMO.

The ALGOMA INNOVATOR has been undergoing her sea trials in the Adriatic Sea off Rijeka, Croatia since late November. She is listed as hull #732 by the shipyard, so most likely not officially christened or acknowledged by her new name yet. Croatia is part of the former Yugoslavia and the shipyard is up at the top of the Adriatic. Novogradnja732 translates to new hull #732

Croatia is in Europe. She won't need to transit the Panama Canal.

The trip would be from the Adriatic, the Mediterranean and then the North Atlantic. Hopefully she doesn't run into any intense low pressure systems, which are very, very common this time of year.

Did you find all of that out on Marine Traffic and their website or at another website and source? I will have to look that one up here at some point on Marine Traffic and see what I can find. It does not in my opinion anyway appear likely if she departs Croatia soon, that she will be able to arrive and enter the Seaway before it closes by the end of this month? How long would it take her to travel from Croatia over to Canada and what route would she take to get here? Would it go through the Panama Canal or take a different route? Sorry for so many questions on her just curious is all. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks so very much in advance for all of your help!

Appears Algoma Innovator may be ready to depart Croatia for Canada soon. Name has been updated to Algoma Innovator and registry country changed from HR to TV (for Tuvalu, consistent with Algoma Niagara delivery voyage).

One final question; if the stiffeners make them structurally capable to cross the ocean then why not leave them on an trade on the ocean during the winter ?

The stiffeners are a temporary accommodation granted by, in this case, Lloyds and not intended for use other than the delivery voyage. No classification society or P & I group would allow it to sail or insure it in general commerce, especially on the Baltic or North Sea in winter, without it being originally built to the appropriate classification rules for ocean service.

She's designed for lake service, stiffening is only a temporary structure. Also as of her launching she did not have any visible stiffeners, but it could have a structure in the holds like the Trillium class had

Does that mean these two new S/U's will have stiffeners for their delivery voyage ? Also, do the stiffeners give them an insurance waiver to cross the ocean since they're not rated for ocean service ? One final question; if the stiffeners make them structurally capable to cross the ocean then why not leave them on an trade on the ocean during the winter ? TIA !
