E. B. Barber Original Color Scheme

When the E. B. Barber came out in 1953 it was painted in a color scheme with grays and whites which I believe it carried until its conversion to a self-unloader in 1964. Does anyone know why it received such a paint scheme and were any other members of the Algoma fleet painted in such a way?
