It’s a calm May 22, 2012 night in the harbor of Lorain, Ohio, as the steamer Philip R. Clarke slowly slips between the East Breakwater Light(white) and the Lorain Lighthouse(red). It’s been 60 years and 1 week since she was commissioned on May 15, 1952 and set sail for Duluth to begain a long career working the Great Lakes for United States Steel. She was built by the American Ship Building Company as hull #867 in Lorain, Ohio.

The Chicago Tribune awaits at the Hoskins Coal Company dock at the entrance to the Chicago River on Sunday, 12 December 1937, on its last trip of the season, before unloading 3,180 tons of newsprint for the printing plant of the world's greatest newspaper.

Warm wishes for the cold months. Been missing engineer's day and all the related tom-foolery. Havent been around water for six months, please excuse the violation of boat themed-ness.
