Hi, The ore that the Jackson delivered to Huron belongs to Severstal. It will be railed to Sparrows Point Md..
To Castaway, Thanks. I had just put a question on here wanting to know what the Philip Clarke is unloading.

Just as I was about to say what a great capture that is and how I had never seen a boat in Huron, I caught this boat unloading lime. I can't make out the name. What is it? Philip R. Clarke?

That might mean everstal Mingo Jct. is be starting up again. Their blast furnace #5 there has been down for quite a while now. Would be a good thing for the Ohio river valley!

Huron ore usually ended up going to Mingo Jct. via the W&LE. I hadn't heard that that mill was coming back on mine, at least the hot end. Yes, maybe this is a good sign.

In the 80s a great deal of the ore that was unloaded in Huron went to the Wheeling Pittsburg Steel mills in either Mingo Junction, OH or Monessan, PA. I'm not sure whether this is still the case today. Mike

To Standuffer, Thanks so much for the tip you gave me about the pop-up blocker. That was my problem. I've been practicing and have taken several today. Thanks again.

Stan, Thank you so much for the picture. It's great!
You know, now that you mention it, the pop-up blocker did come on every time I try to get a picture. I haven't had this computer very long so still trying to learn how everything works.
Again, thanks for the nice pic. & for the computer info.

Here's a snap for you kitten. you might have to allow pop-ups from that site to get the snap feature to work.

The Jackson is unloading ore now. She was beautiful coming in too. I could see very well. I still haven't figured out how to do a screen grab to get a picture though. I guess it doesn't work the same on this laptop.
When they leave Huron, they will go to Sandusky to load coal.

Huron, Ohio

According to this morning Vessel Passage, the Herbert C Jackson is heading to Huron Ohio. Sault Ste. Marie Locks Vessel Passage had her upbound May 12 (Wednesday) with a destination of Silver Bay. With that Silver Bay load, it looks like this will be the 1st boatload of taconite into Huron OH this season. Can anyone verify this and if so, what mills usually receive ore from this dock? Also, is this a positive sign that things are really beginning to turn around?
