Canadian National Dock Duluth
Re: Canadian National Dock Duluth
The Canadian Provider however, does not have a bow thruster
and needs tug assistance when in port and around loading and
unloading docks. Also, her fleetmate Canadian Miner also does
not have a bow thruster either.

Quebecois And Montrealais have diesel bowthusters thus the unique exhaust.Paul A wrote:The Quebecois and the Montrealais both have bow thrusters and have the most unique exhaust ducting of any of the lakers. See the Boatnerd photo galleries for reference.

No tugs stationed in Two Harbors. If SMT sent a ship there Great Lakes Towing would have to send tugs up from Duluth.Dave F wrote:Hi Jim:Jim F wrote:The above mandate also includes CN Two Harbors, Yes there have been too many mishaps with SMT ships and CN is not happy, I believe the tug costs responsibility of shipping companies.
Is there a tug stationed in Two Harbors to assist ships at the ore dock?
Thanks!

Re: Canadian National Dock Duluth
SMT managed boats have a history of dock damage at CN Docks
Re: Canadian National Dock Duluth
I wonder who pays the extra cost? Tugs are expensive. Seems odd all SMT boats have to take a tug, just because one hit the dock.
Re: Canadian National Dock Duluth
All SMT vessels have received notice that all Algoma and Upper Lakes vessels must use tug assisstance as mandated by CN Dock Dukuth
Re: Canadian National Dock Duluth
I heard today that the Peter R. Creswell hit the dock and now Algoma boats have to take tugs in while tying up. I wasn't aware that Upper Lakes boats had to as well, but it makes sense considering they're both managed by Seaway Marine Transport.
Re: Canadian National Dock Duluth
No damage was done to the dock, but she landed at the south end of the wharf where they are completing repairs
Canadian National Dock Duluth
When the Quebecois arrived Duluth on June 2nd, she mentioned that a vessel hit the Canadian National dock and she needed a tug to escort her to the dock. Does anyone have any information about the vessel that hit the dock and how much damage was done? Thanks!
