My Ships Have Finally Come In!

Re: My Ships Have Finally Come In!
I would also like to send some more of my photos to boatnerd but, they were taken earlier in the month and some of them I have not had the time to make any necessary adjustments to them as far as straightening them out. I am sure boatnerd could make any of the adjustments for me if I were to send a few photos to them. Also, I would like to get some of my photos to Roger for the KYS book as I have some nice ones of the Cedarglen in Port Huron now in red. However, I suppose that by the time I get them to Roger that someone else will beat me to it.

Re: My Ships Have Finally Come In!
Thanks for the offer Capt. AMG as I will get back with you on that one in the near future. Now, if only I would have been able to get photos of the Algoma Provider, Algoma Transfer, Phoenix Star and the Phoenix Sun before they are all cut up and scrapped. It don't look like though that I will be seeing and photographing any of them before they leave us though. Can't complain though as I owe and thank the good people at boatnerd for providing us with the photos and the images of those boats. Throw in more boats that I will never see again and get digital photos of and that is the Melissa Desgagnes. I haven't seen her since 2002 and she doesn't get up as far as Clarkson anymore. Also, it don't look like I will be seeing the English River either as the last time I saw her was in 1999 at the Welland Canal. Stephen B. Roman maybe if she makes anymore runs to Essexville with cement. I haven't seen her since the 1990's.

Re: My Ships Have Finally Come In!
Well, you can take the Baie St. Paul now off my list as I "finally" got to see her for the first time on May 25. She was upbound and I admit even at that, she still looked great and fantastic for a new boat. Also, you are were right on one thing and that is "she has a great and loud sounding horn!" Today as she passed upbound in Port Huron, she let everyone know of her presence with her loud sounding horn and it sounded great. I still need a few Canadian boats for my digital list as I have yet to see Algoma Enterprise along with the Salarium. Hopefully someday I will get to see them. Now, if only the Joe Block and the Sykes would come down here. The Block I have back in 2006 on digital but, don't have the Sykes yet on digital film. One can only dream and hope though.

Re: My Ships Have Finally Come In!
Well I got another one that I am waiting on that everyone seems to be seeing lately and that is the "Baie St. Paul!" I am dying to see and get photos of her. In fact I told my Mom just tonight that "I want her downbound and in the perfect lighting in fact, the sun out and it is so bright that it blinds you!" Also, I hope that the sun is glittering on the hull of the Baie St. Paul as that is how I want to see her. To me I think photos of a downbound loaded boat are much better than the upbound shots and empty ones. Yeah, I know sometimes they are loaded too going up but I just love a downbound boat and loaded as that is the photo and the boat and paint job looks so much better. Just my two cents.

My Ships Have Finally Come In!
Well after patiently waiting for what seems like an eternity and since the last supper and the beginning of time, I can finally say to all my boatnerd friends "My ships have finally come in to see me and get their pictures taken and it is about time!" Two that I am talking about are both salties the Federal Rideau and the Irma. The Federal Rideau I have waited since September 2003 to see her as I saw her at the Soo but, due to a "stuck shutter on my camera (darn it) I didn't get photos of her then." Well, I stood out in the cold, wind, snow and sleet in mid-April 2013 and I got to see her "Finally after all these years!" The next salty then on my list was the "Cyprus flagged-Irma!" Believe it or not I was the only boatnerd "never to see the Irma and photograph her and any time she passed by our shores, I could tell they were laughing at me!" Well, there is a saying "He who laughs first laughs last!" So, I finally caught up with the Irma this past week and after 13 years (she was built in 2000) of patiently waiting, I can finally say it was well worth it as I "finally found her and got the photos of her that I have been waiting to get!" Although not salties, throw in two more that I also finally got to see and those two were the Cedarglen (in red) and she looks great and Radcliffe R. Latimer. Boatwatching and boatnerding doesn't get any better than that!
