What were the crew doing off Tawas? They aren't looking for Shipwrecks right?

Research vessel Sturgeon left Alpena earlier in the week and spent the better part of today in waters off Tawas City. In late afternoon, she tied-up at the State Harbor and drew a small crowd of spectators. Her crew seemed to enjoy explaining their mission and answering questions.
