Fiberglass cloth can be applied with epoxy finishing resin or polyester resin. The epoxy finishing resin doesn't smell as bad as polyester resin. I've used epoxy finishing resin and fiberglass cloth for years on wood and foam hulls.
I am building an R/C model of the Myron C. Taylor, and I need help making the hull. I am thinking about buying a scrap hull from Bearco Marine, taking the bow and stern sections and joining them using 1/8th or 1/16th in plywood, then fiberglassing the whole thing. Any other Ideas?
to be honest, that would actually be a good idea, however care will need to be taken to avoid it leaking.

once you have made the front bow compartment and the stern section, you then also have the possibility of making two free-flooding compartments. just be sure that your bulkheads to the main parallel section are watertight.

To keep everything true as well, perhaps a couple of keel spars as well to bond the bow and stern to the central section.
I'd shape the bow and stern out of styrofoam. It sands into shape with ease. If you can't find a block of it that is large enough get some of that sheet styrofoam they sell at home depot as insulation and layer it. Connect them with your midsection and fiberglass.

Ok that was one of my first Ideas, but then I thought that the fiberglass would melt ithe foam, so it doesn't, good.

I do have some other questions for you though, where do you get your fittings?

Would you know where I could get plans of the Tayler in the layout I'm building?

And finally any tips? (this is my first scratch built model that can be R/C)
