To add what Scott suggested. CA glue comes in different thickness. Thick CA dries very slow but can be sped up with the accelerator. Thin CA will dries like now and needs no accelerator. Most important with CA glue is less is better, use very little And very little accelerator

I think for your first model you would want a glue that doesn't set instantly like the CA glue. I prefer a "white wood glue" like Weldbond or other wood working glues that you can find at most stores that sell woodworking equipment and glues. Once you get experienced working on the model boats, then you could try the CA glues. Using the white glue gives you time to correct your positioning of the parts before it sets up, CA bonds instantly (and to your fingers as well). Don't be in a rush with your first boat. Good luck!

Glue; CA glue, can be bought at any hobby shop. Get some accelerant to go with it, when hit with this the glue will dry in an instant, making things easier for you.

You can use balsa or bass, but i'd suggest using styrene. easier to work with. just score a line in it with an exacto knife and it will pop along the line when bent slightly.
