Tin Stack Colors
Re: Tin Stack Colors
Thank you to both of you for your help.
I have finially gotten my kit and I can rally start to think about what I need to do. I do remeber a lot of Forest Green and it never came out of my clothes.
I know I'll be back with more questions as time goes by.
I'll start posting some pictures when i get started on construction.
Thanks again!
Joe

Re: Tin Stack Colors
Joe, contact me if you wish. I sailed in the 70's for USS/GLF and got up close and personal with a paint brush and roller and can probably help you out a bit. You can e-mail me: cna2001@m s n.com

Re: Tin Stack Colors
Joe, go to the "Fleet Photo Gallery" on this site and the GLF section has many photos from quite a span of decades. It seems that everything you're asking about was that forest green.
Tin Stack Colors
I need the help of any knowledgeable "Tin Stack" fans.
I’m building the Leon Fraser in HO scale and I am trying to find the proper colors and what was painted what for the USS Great Lakes Fleet in the mid 70’s. White and hull red were the primary colors and I know they used green as a trim color, but I need to know what color the overheads, deck engines, davits, other deck fittings, stairs, railings, upper decks, etc. were painted.
The GLMA data for Pittsburgh SSC was incomplete for this info.
Thank you for your help,
Joe
