OK, have been doing some research and some cleaning. Found the name "DOLPHIN" on both side of the bow, and that it is most likely a "Great Lakes Passenger and Package Freighter" type. Can't be seen in the photo, but there are covers for several holds behind the cabin section and one in front.

Old Great Lakes Ship Model?

Unread post by MikeS »

Hello Folks -

Found this site while researching. I try to find and restore old crusty ship models, and just came across this one. And it is crusty...

We live near Lake Ontario and I believe made probably in the late 1890's to maybe the 1920s-30s time period. I believe it is a version (real or imagined) of a Great Lakes Passenger/shipping craft. Would anyone have any idea as to whether or not it resembles an actual ship. There are two missing masts to the front and rear of the main cabin section.

Overall about 30"s L x 9"s H. If it should resemble a real sip I would like to see if I can use that to restore some of the missing features.

Thanks for any help and Best Regards!
