Thanks for the clarification. I was originally thinking Hike built this boat. I know hike has built a few fireboats that went south.

Yes, Metalcraft Marine in Kingston (and Cape Vincent) has been building a large number of fireboats lately for the US market. I belive Department of Homeland security grants are funding many. I think Cape Vincent is limited in the size they can build so the larger ones are built in Kingston. The Jones Act does not apply since they are not being used for commerce.

Here are two I photographed in October 2013. The red one is the Stan Musial, for St. Louis, while the new hull was for Seattle.

HPA3 is on her way to Chicago where she will then head down the Mississippi towards her home port of Houston - HPA (Houston Port Authority). This was the third and final vessel ordered through the contract at Metalcraft

She was built by Metalcraft Marine down that way.

third fireboat for the port of Houston is upbound in the st. clair river. marinetraffic.com has her previous ports listed as port colborne, port weller, and Kingston, Ontario all in the last few days. can anyone explain why she went all the way down there for her trails, if that was why she was down there?
