Stadacona at General Mills A at the twilight of her career; a wonderful sight! Bonus with the Henry Steinbrenner cruising by in the background (also in its last season of operation if memory serves) and the Peter Misener right next door at Cargill. What some Duluth boatnerds would give to see a congregation like that these days. Also like the double helping with John A. France and Canadian Mariner next door to each other later that same spring.

Nothing better to do while waiting for football on a foggy, rainy day in Duluth, but to scan and post.

Extremely foggy day in the Twin Ports. Post a few more now and see if I can post a few more latter.
Re: Photo Collection
Post a few more before the Twins game comes on. Always be a Tigers fan, but this was a tough season.

Stiff wind (look at the smoke) and lots of freeboard......Is there some kind of backstory to the unusual angle the George A. Stinson is passing through the Duluth Canal
Re: Photo Collection
Probably yesterday was the first time I saw that photo in at least 15 yrs. Wish I had an answer for you, but I don't. Didn't realize how close she was to the pier when departing. I thank you for appreciating my photos.Guest wrote:Great shots as always Garbear! Is there some kind of backstory to the unusual angle the George A. Stinson is passing through the Duluth Canal?

A high of 80 here today. Be curious to see when we get our first snow flurries. Since I've been in Duluth we've had flurries a few times by the end of Sept.
A few more photos.

Could that be from when the Hatfield made a run for the Lake, sans crew, in a storm a couple years earlier? I've never heard that that the Hatfield incurred any damage in that incident, but that probably would not have been a newsworthy detail.Guest wrote:Any idea what happened to the Hatfield? Looks like collision damage.
Re: Photo Collection
Nice photo of a couple of Hall boats in transition, I think that was when Misener was doing some split loads between Duluth and Thunder Bay.
