Re: Vista Fleet
Has anyone heard of a possible motive for the guy who did this? I read he was a mechanic. Did they fail to pay him or alienate him in some way? Most reasonable people don't do things like that, and even unstable people need some kind of reason, however strange...

Of course someone has to care enough to point out the mistake, and someone else has to care enough to fix the mistake. News organizations have been cut to the bone for maximum profits and the people who might have caught such mistakes are long gone. Now it is all about how fast you get something on line or on air, and how many clicks it gets, not on whether or not it is accurate. It seems like "mostly right" is good enough nowadays. I don't blame the people who make the mistakes as much as I do their corporate honchos who have cut, cut, cut making the quality of the coverage decline.

If I'm not mistaken I think I've sent you a rant or 2 on a couple different topics. Probably be more in the future.

Hi, Roger. I actuallly e-mailed the other TV station that said it was a 1000 footer. Big surprise. Didn't get a response.RogerKYS wrote:I'd be happy to send them a KYS book!

Re: Vista Fleet
I see from the Fox 21 report the Leitch was 750 ft. long. Another of our local TV stations said it was a 1000 footer. Wouldn't have been too tough if they'd have done their homework to find the correct info.

Re: Vista Fleet
That kind of behavior makes life hard for Boatnerds, because then they want to up more fences and security, making it difficult, if not impossible to get near the boats for a decent photo. Only takes one idiot to ruin it for everyone else.

Re: Vista Fleet
I was watching the Duluth cameras early this morning as the John D. Leitch came in and was wondering why one of the Vista boats was out so early. It was almost to the canal with a Coast Guard 45 footer nearby with its flashers on.

It still amazes me at my age the intelligence/or lack thereof of some people.
