Post subject: Re: Lighthouse location and/or employees list
Unread postPosted: February 19, 2012, 11:48 pm
I checked the excellent database compiled by Tom and Phyllis Tag on the lighthouse keepers of the Great Lakes, and I fear I was only able to find one keeper by the name of Freeman, and his first name was Samuel, and he resigned from service in 1849.

This does not mean that your ancestor was not a lighthouse keeper, just that his name did not appear in any of the service payroll records the Tags researched in the National Archives and other sources.

Sorry I wasn't able to help.

Hello,

My Great-great grandfather Eli D Freeman appeared in the 1874 Toledo, Oh directory listed as a lighthouse keeper. Below is the information I have. If you could help me locate which lighthouse he might have worked at and lead me to a picture of it for my family tree I would be very grateful. Thanks so much, LFreeman

Residence Year: 1874
Street Address: Joseph Jacobs
Residence Place: Toledo, Ohio
Occupation: Lighthouse Keeper
Publication Title: Toledo, Ohio, City Directory, 1874
