Edmund Fitzgerald artifacts on auction block
Re: Edmund Fitzgerald artifacts on auction block
I'm reasonably sure they're legit. The Fitzgerald was in Fraser Shipyards for some work several years before it sank and a number of items came off the boat, such as dressers and some other furniture, that ended up in workers' possession. These paddles from a liferaft probably came off at some point when the raft was replaced. They were sold in a lot that included other items that someone picked up while working at the yard.

Anyone comment on the stencil work on the oars? Are these legit or fakes?

This may be of interest to some. None of the items are from the shipwreck, but still are very interesting.
