I agree with you guys. That does look like the Crete. I'll pull it out of the gallery.
Thanks!

I think you are right, the photo is of the Crete and not the Amasa Stone.

The RDF on the Amasa Stone in photos I've seen appears almost amidships above the pilothouse. Not here, nor have I seen a photo of her with a life raft atop the pilothouse. The porthole configuration is different here, too, on the forecastle. The fenestration of the pilothouse seems much different in the lay-up shot. Most notably, for me, is the positioning of the vessel's name above "The Interlake Steamship Co." The names are always centered above this, as with this vessel, but the name here, if centered, must be short. I think it's the Crete, but I'm not 100% certain.

You're correct, that does not appear to be her.

Amasa Stone Gallery

In looking at the gallery of the Amasa Stone, there is a photo of her tied up next to the Samuel Mather and Robert Hobson during a winter layup. Something has always bugged me about the appearance of the forward deckhouse and pilothouse of the Amasa in this photo. Is this really the Amasa Stone or another vessel very similar in design? The mast also appears to be different in this photo than other photos in this collection. If not the Stone, who is it?
