Have the Duncan Bay tugs and ferry been removed or re-floated from Cheboygan, Mi. waters? Pictures? Thanks in advance!

the ferry in the ad is nothing like the one in Duncan bay its a deck ferry for passenger cars and im willing to bet that the paper has the price wrong if he got 40k for it i would be surprised.

Based on the fact that right now Scruton Marine is advertising the following ferry, located in Massachusetts, for $1.1 Million, some reporter really got his or her facts wrong.

Have any idea how much the fines were? 30 days in the clink doesn't seem like enough to make a person take cyanide!

The saga continued yesterday in the Cheboygan court when the owner Mr. Stivers attempted suicide by taking a handful of cyanide. Mr. Stivers was sentenced to 30 days in jail, plus fines and costs. The ferry Joelle Annmarie has been sold to a party in the Soo for 4 million dollars. The new owner of the tugs stated that he plans on raising the Jenny Lynn and return her to service along with the ex William Hoey.

The tug William Hoey draws about 11 feet at the stern and 4 feet at the bow under normal floating conditions.

Detour bunkering/coal dock. Used strictly for fueling coal burning boats.

Can someone remind us again what that dock was originally used for? Was that an ore terminal?

A few weeks ago Durocher put a line on the Hoey and gave her a couple pulls from different angles without success. On one side there is only 3-4 feet of water and I imagine the tug draws 6-7 feet. I don't know if they ever got the water out of her or not, but if they haven't, it is wasted effort to try and pull her off. Stivers has till March 21st to get the tugs out of there and ice os forming fast.

What are these boats doing there? can you tour them or are they just taking up dock space. Are the docks not being used for anything anymore?
The Atkinson was towed away for scrap recently, and the Sherwin is simply in long-term lay-up, possibly awaiting a refit when it becomes economically feasible. The dock has no other use.

Well, not really on the beach, but aground. Crews were working to move her, but apparently she is still here, with her prop buried in the bottom. Stivers faces stiff penalties if not removed soon.

Oh heavens no. The ferry, ex-"Commuter" wouldn't have more than 200hp. Her sister-ship, Corsair, which is owned by Arnold Line, has her original 150hp engine, and she's been lengthened 35 feet. Both boats are very shallow and flat bottomed - no need for much horsepower, and that won't help pull this tug off the beach.

The beginning of the week there was a crew using ferry Joelle Annmarie to try and move the ex William Hoey. They tried pulling on her for a while and then pushing on her. Water is pretty shallow around the tug, so I assume that the ferry was scraping bottom there. I would think that the ferry would have around 800 HP and don't think that is enough to move the Hoey. There are some pretty good size tugs here in Cheboygan that could do the job, but due the the water depth they aren't going to be able to get very close to her. Still no activity around the Jenny Lynn.

Are these the AKA and the John Sherwin? If the AKA is the smaller boat, it looks lie a tight fit to get it past the Sherwin. What are these boats doing there? can you tour them or are they just taking up dock space. Are the docks not being used for anything anymore?

The 80k wasn't ballast, it was water that had leaked in due to poorly packed shafts. There won't be any problem moving her, or Sherwin out due to depth.
