There's also a lot of tug-barge traffic to Tonawanda via the Black Rock Canal, with an occasional ship once in a while.
The best place for traffic updates is under the Buffalo/Lackawanna Vessel Passage page on this web site, found on the left hand sidebar.

Ships come into Lafarge, ADM (Both near Ohio St. on the Buffalo River. Buffalo Sand Supply (Same general area, but in the canal) General Mills, and Gateway (Outer Harbor).

Drop me an email jkeklak at yahoo.com and I can give you a lot more specific information.

Your most common vessels this season are:

Hey everyone, Im looking for my buffalo people. Just moved here from rochester and I'm wondering where the best places are to view some of the ships coming in. I walked around down by general mills and ohio street, but cant seem to find the right place.

And how often do ships stop at general mills? And is this the only place they stop in buffalo?
