I have only seen tugs and barges on the middle channel. Historically the north channel had more commercial traffic.

Did ships ever use the Middle Channel of the St. Clair River at Algonac to pass along the north side of Harsens Island to the Middle Channel between that island and Dickinson Island? Or did they always transit to the east side of Russell Island and Harsens Island as they do today?
