Detroit Pet Coke shipments have been going to three places: Belledune (CSL vessels), Alpena (GRN vessels), and Sydney (CSL vessels).

Belledune has a large thermal electric power plant that burns a lot of Western coal and also it now seems, pet coke. I doubt if it transferred for other ports. The main transhipment port for coke has been Contrecoeur. Quebec could probably handle it if there was room among the already outgoing western coal and Lake Superior iron ore and inbound South American ore

Pet Coke to Belledune

Today's News Page has an article on the Detroit Pet Coke pile and its connection to Asian and South American markets. It has me wondering about the Petroleum Coke coming out of South Chicago. Sourced out of BP Whiting, most of it seems to go out on Canadian hulls headed for Belledune. Recently we've had the Baie St. Paul, Atlantic Erie, and Spruceglen just to name a few, take on loads all destined for Belledune. I assume it is then loaded onto ocean going vessels for South American or Asian ports. Is that accurate?

Secondly, does some, most, or all of the Detroit Pet Coke end up in Belledune as well?
