Of the few tugs I have worked on, none of them had checkered or "diamond" plating on the outside decks. They were always painted, with some form of sand or sand blast grit to form a non-skid coating. the engineroom decks however, were often diamond plated.

Just wondering if, where and when "diamond" or "checkered" plating is used on tug main decks. I have found photos of "anti-skid" plating on different tugs, but don't know if it is a common thing or not.
