There haven't been any of the concrete elevators demolished except for the Delwood back in the 60s or early 70s. The Concrete Central, American, Electric, Pero, GLF, Cargil Superior, Cargil Pool, Marine A, & the Great Northern are unused but the General Mills Frontier, Lake & Rail, & ADM Standard are used for grain, St. Mary's, Holcim, & LaFarge elevators are used for cement.

There is Massive investment going on around the harbor. There are new public parks from one end to the other including bike paths, pick nick areas, scenic overlooks, & fishing piers. The Erie Canal & Commercial Slip has been dug out downtown & is being restored, & the 20 story Harbor Center is going in with shops, restaurants, & hotels, the Naval Park has been moved & rebuilt with period looking buildings to match the canal era, there's a new casino, they completely rebuilt Rt5 & Furman Blvd to calm the traffic & make it walkable, they put in a lot of infrastructure to create industrial parks around the former steel plants, there's millions being spent on environmental clean up around & in the water, I could go on & on. Things are really happening & I'm glad to be here & be part of it after waiting so long, go down there & see for yourself.

Looks like the dead zone more empty than full lots of bike paths on waterfront but not much more

I haven't been in Buffalo since the mid-1980s, when a number of vacant grain elevators had just been demolished and all the concrete debris was still laying on the ground. What is that area like now?

Negative. Her air draft is too high because she's got the raised pilot house. The G-Tugs can fit under if they lower their masts.

Lower Lakes was looking into taking that load somewhere else if they couldn't get through but they got it to go & then left it up today. She's leaving & coming back with another load so they might just leave it up in the air for a few more days.

Hey Brian W., resident Bflo. maritime expert: Will the fireboat Cotter clear the lowered Michigan St. and/or Ohio St. vertical lift bridges? Good to see the found the wind up key and got the Ohio St. bridge functioning today. Lower Lakes must be happy.
