This picture was taken on July 28th of this year at 2:44 PM as a storm was drifting over Lake St. Clair. The hanging clouds looked pretty scary to me, and made me reflect on how these ships are at the mercy of mother nature. I wondered what they looked like from the freighter's point of view. I'm new to boatnerds and wish I had known about this site when I took the picture, as I would have been able to identify the ship here. The picture was taken at the foot of 12 Mile Road in St. Clair Shores. Joe Fabian

Thanks for the help everyone. I checked, and indeed the Algomarine is on record departing Duluth the night I took that shot.

Re: "BoatNerd's Best Boat Picture Ever" contest
I was driving by Lake St. Clair on a cold autumn morning. I couldn't help notice the jagged, rough, industrial looking clouds hanging over the lake. I turned my car around and drove home to get my camera and telephoto lens. To my good fortune, when I got back, a freightor was chugging by near the horizon. Looking at it through the long lens, I saw how the atmosphere was playing tricks with the boat in the distance. That made it look even better I thought. After this, I opened a file called "My Favorites" to keep my favorite photos in. This was my first.
