PC Junction is located at the intersection of County A and Hillside Rd Southeast of Egg Harbor. That area is locally known as Peninsula Center.

Outside of Ephraim(Ithink) is a little restaurant called PC Junction. It is like a country bar, almost, sandwich fare and the fod is delivered on 'o'gauge model trains. It's really neat if you have smaller kids with you. They also have pretty good ice cream.

Restaurants: There are a lot of good ones county wide in all price ranges. We Live far north, so we generally eat out far north and don't like to spend a lot. But want a really good meal. We don't eat out in the towns between us and Sturgeon because we're driving. to get To Walmart or back home. Another place in Sturgeon that We like is the Hong Kong Buffet behind MickeyD's in the Cherry Point Mall (inexpensive, low fat, low carbs!). Have heard good reviews about the Ladder House on 3rd Ave. Have never eaten there.
Have a number of spots for you to see on your around the county drive: Fish Creek dock area, Peninsula Pk (Weather permitting, climb the tower! Also, visit the lighthouse), Sister Bay waterfront, Ellison Bluff County Pk, Gills Rk including the Maritime Museum (Charlie's smokehouse has fresh fish, smoked fish and ice cream, and Shoreline Restaurant is very good if a bit pricey). On the way to Northport Pier is a sideroad to the left called Kenosha Rd. Take it. It dead ends on Green Bay on a Bluff overlooking Part of Death's Door Passage. Beautiful little park high above the water. Then on to Northport. More later.

Folks come back year after year cause there's so much to do and see. Right in POT Pk be sure to visit the navigation light down on the water's edge, and get directions for Bullhead Pt just SE of the park for viewing Bayship.
As stated earlier, most important stops are the Visitor's Center out on hwy 42-57 and the Maritime Museum in Sturgeon. I have no suggestions for eating out except for Culver's for hamburgers and Custard at the north end of town (hwy 42-57) and the Deli in Econo Foods. Their fried chix is great.
If you wish to fish, buy a license. The DNR is Tough here. Take one day and drive the roundtrip of the peninsula. It's an hour each way.
When you're in Fish Creek, take the drive thru Peninsula State Park.
There are tons of places to eat. If I had to pick, I'd say JJ's and Al Johnson's both in Sister Bay. JJ's is also in Jacksonport.
Be sure to go all the way to Northport to drive the winding road and view the Ferries which go to Washington Island.

the restored tug John Purves is at the Door County Maritime museum in SB and open for tours. Lots of folks visit the Cana Island lighthouse. Door County is considered the Cape Cod of the midwest. too much to list to see and do. stop at the visitor center on the right side of road on way into town, across from Target and AmericInn motel.

When you leave Manitowoc, follow Hwy 42 north out of town. It goes by the Wis.Manitowoc Museum, then heads north along the shore for a ways. Goes thru Two Rivers (couple small museums there, is alleged to be the birthplace of the ice cream sundae) & Kewaunee to Sturgeon Bay. Nice scenic drive.

When I ride the Badger I always stop at the Wisconsin Martitime Museum in Manitowoc. It's just across the river from the Badger dock. Have fun!

Since you'll be going to Sturgeon Bay, the Door Cyt. Maritime Museum is a must-stop. They have plenty of information on local light-house tours inside. Also there is a retired Corps of Engineering tug in Keewaunee, about 20 minutes south of Sturgeon Bay that may be of interest.

I'm new to posting but have been watching this site for a couple of years or so.

I saw how helpful everyone was to the gal who was going to visit The Soo and thought maybe I'd be as lucky with our visit to Door County WI.

I'm quite excited, we are riding the Badger over in early June, second time for that, I think thats what started my fascination with the big ships.

Plan to camp at Potawatami State Park and see what I can see at Bay Ship. I realize I missed the tour, but from what I can tell, I think there should still be a couple of ships there, looked a couple of days ago but don't remember the names.

Anyway, just looking for tips on good places to visit besides what you find on the web sites. Local advice basically. Recommended places to eat, must see's and stuff like that.

Also wondered if there would be any fellow boatnerd's in the area we could perhaps meet up with to learn some stuff and hear some stories.

I'll appreciate any help greatly! Thanks!

Now, the 2 questions I have to ask now.

1. I realize this may seem a silly question and I'm sure it's been asked before but.......Why are the ships referred to as "she" but are mostly named after the male gender?

2. Anyone know if there will ever be a re-print of the GLEW's shipyard & it's vessels book?
