I might be off by one boat, but isn't the (fore)mast from this ship on display on the grounds of the Fairport Harbor Lighthouse Museum in Ohio? I thought it was from either this one or the Sable.

That is the USS Michigan, then given the name the USS Wolverine, then she sat nameless in misery bay in Erie for years. Her bow is now on display in Erie PA. Interesting she was the first iron hull ship in the US Navy, and when she went to scrap the metal thickness had not deteriorated at all.

You indeed have a rare photo. A few bits and pieces of the hull were saved at scrapping but thats it. The bow and trim piece used to be on display near the Public Dock in Erie for decades. It might still be there.

I was recently given this photo, and am trying to identify the vessel. There was no information written on the back of the photo. It is clear that the tower in the background is the Perry Memorial on Misery Bay, Presque Isle, PA. Does anyone have any thoughts?
